Professional counseling is an important aspect of the recovery program at The Texas House. Helping our residents to identify and overcome mental and emotional issues is a critical aspect of becoming emotionally healthy. Because substance abuse doesn’t happen in a vacuum and may be the result of numerous unhealthy behaviors, it is vital that those in recovery work with a professional counselor to identify and work to heal from issues that could disrupt their future sobriety.
While staying with us, residents will have access to a board-certified psychiatrist and a master level therapist who will help them continue to build upon their recovery and gain the valuable skills they will need to live a healthy, fulfilling life once they return home.
The Benefits of Counseling
Meeting with professional counselors can help those in the recovery process minimize their chances of relapse. Individual and group counseling also gives residents the opportunity to continue to gain insight about themselves and to prepare to successfully overcome future emotional challenges.
Counseling while in a transitional living home offers the resident an additional layer of support and the chance to focus on himself in a safe environment. He can work to overcome emotional issues that led to addiction and work with the professional counselors to learn new, healthy behaviors that will benefit him throughout his life.
Counseling prepares residents of The Texas House for a life free of alcohol and drugs and an enhanced sense of self and emotional well-being once they return home.
