At The Texas House, we are pleased to offer our residents the benefit of one on one recovery coaching. Meeting with a recovery coach to discuss individual challenges and make plans for a successful future is a crucial step in the recovery process and one that significantly reduces the possibility of relapse.
Our recovery coaches are here to help our residents work through their recovery from addiction and guide and support them as they work to transition to a new lifestyle.
What is a Recovery Coach?
A recovery coach offers guidance and support to people in recovery. He will meet the resident where he is and help him see the bigger picture of his future. He offers guidance, education, and accountability to help those in recovery understand the role their individual choices play in affecting their future.
The main goals of a recovery coach are to offer accountability, teach new life skills and effective communication skills, help locate resources, understand how to make and achieve goals, as well as offer hope, support, and encouragement.
The Benefits of Recovery Coaching
Recovery coaching has been proven to help those in recovery build a stronger foundation and lessen the chances of relapse. By providing the crucial emotional support that those in recovery need while offering help with life skills and an understanding of personal accountability, a recovery coach can help transform an individual’s future.
The recovery coaching process helps an individual to focus on his strengths rather than his weaknesses and shows him how he can utilize those strengths to achieve goals and take steps towards a positive future.
Working with a recovery coach while your loved one is in a recovery living environment can help encourage those family members to begin the practice of making healthy decisions leading them to a healthy and fulfilling life.
